FAQs

What’s the difference between Columbia Figure Skating Club and Columbia Association?

Columbia Figure Skating Club (CFSC) is a non-profit that utilizes the Columbia Association (CA) Ice Rink as our home club. Both CFSC and CA offer freestyle skating sessions. CFSC often refers to our freestyle sessions as club ice. CFSC also hosts ice shows, testing, seminars, and theatre on ice.

I have a CA membership already. Do I need a CFSC membership to participate in club activities?

Yes. CFSC is separate from CA and requires its own membership to participate in club activities such as shows, testing, club ice, etc. Learn more about membership here

I already have a Learn to Skate (LTS) membership through USFS. Do I need a CFSC membership to participate in club activities?

Yes. While CFSC is also under USFS, membership with LTS is separate from membership with USFS and CFSC. CFSC requires its own membership to participate in club activities such as shows, testing, club ice, etc. Learn more about membership here.

I’m a new skater where should I start?

If you are just learning to skate, CA offers group classes through the Learn to Skate program . If you are looking for one-on-one instruction, contact the Chesapeake Skating School for private lessons at pdccahill8@gmail.com.

How do I sign up for club ice?

Club ice is open to any member of CFSC. Club ice is typically at our home rink at Columbia Association though moves to Piney Orchard Ice Rink in the summers. Register for club ice

How can I get involved?
